LeadingAge Texas Calls on Budget Committees to Support Nursing Homes

On February 26, George Linial, President & CEO of LeadingAge Texas provided recommendations to Chairwoman Nelson and members of the Texas Senate Committee on Finance as they examined the budgetary impact and needs of nursing homes and other long-term care providers. Testimony is being provided to the House Appropriations Committee today.

"For the last year, nursing homes have been at the center of the pandemic storm. COVID-19 has magnified the longstanding challenges nursing homes have faced, which are tied to how the U.S. and Texas pays for, regulates, and delivers services. Providers continue to face exponential expenses due to routine testing, PPE, staffing, infection control, increased regulation, and other costs, while revenues have fallen substantially due to decreases in both short-term and long-term admissions," - George Linial.

NFs Encouraged to Provide Input About COVID-19 Vaccination

HHSC is asking nursing facilities to complete a short survey about your interest in having another COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Please complete the survey by 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021.

HHSC will use this feedback to identify evolving needs and inform future initiatives. You can take the survey here.

Texans Urged to Participate in Disaster Assistance Online Survey

Texans are urged to fill out the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s State of Texas Assessment Tool to help state and emergency management officials identify damages that occurred during the recent winter storm. FEMA has asked the state of Texas for additional information regarding the amount of damage in the counties that have yet to be declared, and TDEM will continue to present that information until all Texas counties that qualify for federal assistance receive the assistance they need.

Texans are also encouraged to pass this survey on to family, friends and organizations who live and operate in counties not currently declared for federal assistance. Click here to check your county's status

Texans who live in current disaster-declared counties should apply for disaster assistance at disasterassistance.gov.
