With the backdrop of the Texas Capitol, Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick were sworn into office as the state’s top-elected Texas officials. The ceremony marks the end of the Perry-era in Texas politics, spanning three decades, including 14 years as Texas governor. In November, voters supported a Republican sweep in all statewide offices and increased the Republican margins in both chambers of the Texas Legislature.
