Morningside Ministries welcomed students from Edison High School to The Meadows community for the first-annual “Aging Services Career Day” on October 5.
During the students’ time at Morningside, team members from various departments including nursing, food services, transportation, housekeeping and environmental services spoke in detail about their professions, answered students’ questions, and even shared personal stories of their interactions with residents. Staff also led the students on short tours around the community to give them a better idea of day-to-day operations at a retirement community.
“It was all business when the students came to visit,” shared Christine Nguyen, Morningside’s director of human resources. “Being business-focused students, their eyes were opened to the many career options available under the umbrella of aging services.”
Following the successful career day, Morningside hopes to continue developing its partnership with the students of Edison High School, and offer more opportunities for them to visit the communities.
“Many students inquired about becoming a volunteer, and that is music to our ears,” said Nguyen. “We are thankful for this great group of kind and respectful students; our future young professionals.”
