About the Course

This one-day, information-packed seminar will provide attendees with the NPUAP’s 2016 pressure injury definition and staging updates. In addition, content will include scoring and assigning risk for pressure injury prevention using the Braden tool with a focus on the vulnerable heel; the number one location for pressure injuries in the LTC post-acute setting. Prevention, assessment and treatment of skin tears will be covered, as will designing a wound plan of care using current evidence-based treatment interventions. Regulatory and coding mandates (F314, MDS Section-M) from CMS is included in the content. Use this course to elevate your wound prevention and care knowledge to meet today’s recommendations for practice.

About the Presenter 

Dr. Pamela Scarborough is currently the Director of Public Relations and Education for American Medical Technologies. She is a physical therapist with over 35 years’ experience as a clinician, team leader, professional educator and mentor. Her clinical experience includes traditional physical therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, and wound prevention and care. 

In addition to holding a license to practice physical therapy in the state of Texas, Pamela is board certified as both a diabetes educator (CDE) & wound specialists (CWS). Dr. Scarborough presents nationally & internationally to multidisciplinary audiences and publishes extensively on topics related to wound prevention and care and diabetes management.


This course has been approved for 6 hours of continuing education credit for Nurses and Nursing Home Administrators.
Continuing education credits are provided through AMT Education Division. AMT Education Division is a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the California Board of Nursing.
