PRESENTATION DETAILS

Topic: "Say 'Yes' to Less Stress"  

Summary: Caregivers face an increased risk of overwhelming physical, social and financial burdens, leaving them with a serious need to manage stress and prevent chronic disease. Attendees will learn how a caregiver’s stress levels affect the person for whom they are caring and will come away with effective techniques to manage stress including how aging services team members can work to manage stress and best support residents’ family members serving as caregivers. Recommendations will range from technology-based interventions to instrumental, emotional and informational support strategies. 

Speaker: Lisa Milliken, Education Specialist, Select Rehabilitation

Over the last 30 years, Lisa Young Milliken has served older adults as a clinician, manager, vice president, consultant, compliance manager and education director and is most passionate about mentoring healthcare professionals in the post-acute facilities across the country.  She currently provides continuing education support to therapists in over 950 sites nationwide as Education Specialist for Select Rehabilitation. 

Continuing Education:

  • Administrators & Assisted Living Managers: This program has been approved for Continuing Education for 1 total participant hour by NAB/NCERS—Approval #20200320-1-A53833-IN.
  • Social Workers: This program offers 1 contact hour of continuing education for social workers. For information on the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners*, please click HERE.
    *The Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners has approved LeadingAge Texas to provide continuing education activities for social workers (current thru August 31, 2019).
