ABOUT THE AWARD

Our 2017-2018 Inspirational Senior Texan Award is now open for nominations! This contest is held in recognition of National Senior Citizens Day* (August 21). Though the prestige doesn't stop there - the award winner will also be honored during the 2018 LeadingAge Texas Annual Conference.

We ask that LeadingAge Texas members to use this opportunity to recognize senior citizens within your community who make outstanding contributions and inspire others with their actions & service! All eligible nominees will be submitted for voting to the LeadingAge Texas membership from August 3 thru August 11. So, nominate a senior Texan in your community thru July 31, then spread the word throughout your community's staff to rally votes!

RULES

  • Nominee must be a senior citizen, at least 62 years of age, and a current resident/recipient of services at a LeadingAge Texas Member Organization
  • Nominator must complete the following form by July 31 for the nominee to be considered

TIMELINE

  • July 31: All entries must be submitted by close of business
  • August 3-11: Voting will be opened to all LeadingAge Texas members via the August 3 issue of the LeadingAge Texas Connection & will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, August 11.
  • August 17: The winner will be announced in the August 17 issue of the LeadingAge Texas Connection & will be celebrated on the LeadingAge Texas website & social media platforms in celebration of National Senior Citizen Day on August 21.
  • May 21: The winner will be honored at the 2018 LeadingAge Texas Annual Conference.

NOTE: All entries will be formatted accordingly and provided back to the nominator for the purpose of distributing to media outlets and newspapers in attempt to highlight National Senior Citizens Day and the residents of LeadingAge Texas communities.

*National Senior Citizens Day is celebrated annually on August 21 to recognize the outstanding contributions senior citizens make in communities across the country. National Senior Citizens Day was established in 1988 by President Reagan in honor of senior citizens in the US who made positive contributions in their communities. The day was also created to bring awareness of social, health, and economic issues that affect senior citizens.
