MRC Announces Plans to Build Stevenson Oaks Featuring Independent Living, Various Amenities and Full Complement of Care Options in New Tavolo Park

Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), a not-for-profit senior living organization based in The Woodlands, has announced development plans for a new senior living community in Fort Worth. The 19-acre site is just off Chisholm Trail Parkway at Bryant Irvin and Altamesa boulevards. It’s located in the new Tavolo Park master-planned community – a development featuring new homes, parks, restaurants, offices and retail shops. Stevenson Oaks has been selected as the name for the senior living community. Plans initially include 159 independent living apartment homes with various amenities, as well as 36 assisted living apartments, 24 memory support suites, 24 rehab suites and 16 skilled nursing suites on the campus.

“We’re proud to bring this incredible new lifestyle option to seniors in the Fort Worth area that not only celebrates their social energy, but also their intellectual spirit, all in a refined and engaging atmosphere that furthers our mission of service ministry to older adults,” said Ron Jennette, president and CEO of MRC. “This new community represents our commitment to providing the best services, programs, activities, care and living options for Fort Worth seniors.”

Recent Census Bureau reports show more than 71,000 Fort Worth residents are already 65 years or older, and that number is expected to grow substantially over the next 10 years with the aging of Baby Boomers. This project will enhance dignified housing and wellness services for the rising senior population, as well as provide quality jobs in the Fort Worth area.

In addition to residential accommodations for all levels of living, the Stevenson Oaks campus will feature multiple dining options and amenities, including a fitness center, auditorium, and dedicated spaces for various activities and wellness programs. Other features include outdoor living areas, green spaces and scenic walking paths throughout the community. Residents will also enjoy maintenance, housekeeping and transportation services to enable a carefree lifestyle. As a Life Care community, Stevenson Oaks independent living residents will have priority access to on-site assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehab services at substantially discounted rates.

“MRC is committed to strong resident programming to enhance residents’ lifestyles, including an environment that supports intergenerational programming,” Jennette said. “We look forward to Stevenson Oaks carrying on the tradition of other successful MRC communities throughout Texas. It’s an exciting time for our organization to grow our mission, serve more seniors, and help provide them and their families a secure future.”

The community’s name pays homage to William Stevenson, a Methodist pioneer in Texas, and the Chinkapin Oak, a regional tree known for its strength and considered to symbolize wisdom and spiritual wholeness.

Development of the community is in the early stages, with marketing and sales starting in the coming months after MRC obtains all necessary city approvals to close on the land. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place by late 2019, with a grand opening slated for 2021.
